Neals Yard Remedies - Facial Skincare Review

My skin problems currently consist of:

  1. Small bumps on forehead
  2. Dry flakey skin
  3. Slightly oily but dry skin

Because of the above problems which were arising, I decided to go out and splash some money on a some new skin care products. In addition, as I have always been wary about chemicals and unnatural products which all work its way into our bodies, i decided to try Neals Yard Remedies which are marketed as 99% organic and natural.

I have been using the products for about a month and wanted to write a review as these products are NOT CHEAP. At the same time I would say they are not overpriced as they do contain all organic ingredients. The toner was £20, the night cream £20 and the oil £20. As i reckon i'm about a 10th of the way through the products, I do expect this splurge to last me another 9 months.

Toner

The toner does help to add some moisture back into the skin after cleansing, however this is because I am literally spraying liquid back onto my face after drying. I would not say my skin has felt more moisturised than when I did not have a toner step. I have a suspicion the alcohol in the product is counteracting the effect of the aloe vera ingredient. I had scratched a spot and I did feel my skin sting from application. I hope the botanical ingredients are making my skin glow more, and I would say there might be like a 5% improvement, but definitely nothing dramatically noticeable. The smell of the product is nice and refreshing especially before bed!

Avocado Moisturiser

When I compare this to the Avene Rich Skin Recovery cream which is my staple product, I would say it is not as moisturising. However it hasn't caused my skin to break out at all. Again I like the fact that the ingredients are natural and organic so I will keep using it to help my Avene moisturiser stretch out longer.

Rose Facial Oil

I have been interested in trying an oil for so long now. As my skin is naturally dry from within I did think that an oil could help. However it has not had the amazing impact i was hoping for, my skin condition is still dry overall. Again no break outs caused and does help to make your skin glow if you apply with foundation.

Conclusion

I am pleased with the products overall. I naturally want to believe the products will solve all my skin problems because of the price and the natural ingredients, however i do think skin problems really do come from diet and overall health rather than topical application. My face will feel tight and horrible if I don't apply anything after washing so I'm glad I've found a natural product to help with this. It is better than applying a lot of chemicals which get absorbed into the skin and mess around with our hormones.
