How to Answer ANY Interview Question by Preparing for Just 5 Topics
You can be asked an infinite number of interview questions, so this article is not about preparing for specific questions, but about preparing for certain topics which will help you answer ANY QUESTION!
TOPIC ONE: Reasons Why They Should Hire YOU!
Every question the interviewer asks is really this question! Why are you so special and such a right fit? If you can come up with great reasons, you’ll be feeling incredibly confident and prepared for the interview.
TOPIC TWO: Key Experiences and Achievements you gained in each relevant post on your CV
This will help you succinctly run through your CV, without boring them! You’ll get straight to the heart of the matter. Again when you pick your top 3 examples, bear in mind you’re always answering the real question: why should they hire you?!
TOPIC THREE: Stories which demonstrate the top 10 competencies required for the role
For example:
If the role is about setting up new processes that might be stories of:
How you’ve worked with difficult people
How you’ve influenced change
If you’ll be managing a team, then stories of:
When you’ve demonstrated leadership
When you’ve improved performance
When you’ve worked with difficult people
If you’ll be analysing lots of data, stories of:
When you’ve solved a problem
When you’ve summarised complex data into a simple report
TOPIC FOUR: The Industry, The Company and The Role
Think of three key risks and opportunities that there are for the industry and the company. In doing this, thoroughly research the company and industry. This will demonstrate that you’re business savvy. Also think about the challenges you will face in this role and then think about how you would met similar challenges with past examples.
TOPIC FIVE: Questions to ask the interviewer
Always think of questions to ask the interviewer to prove you are genuinely interested in the role as well as having done your research.
These five topics really help you cover off any possible question with the exception of: What is your weakness?!
Obviously the more stories you can tell of past experiences to demonstrate as many competencies, the more bases you will have covered! SO PREPARE PREPARE PREPARE!
