  • Download your bank statement and assess the subscriptions you are paying out every month and whether you actually require them. Here are a few that I have now deleted:

    • Habit - meditation app - £11/ month

    • Amazon Prime - £7.99/month

    • Laptop Warranty -£11/ month

    • Audible - £7.99/ month

    • TOTAL Saving = £456 a year

  • Claim back your work expenses! I definitely had a couple hundred in there easily!

  • Move your money into a top interest earning savings account, go onto MoneySavingExpert.com to check out what works best for you. In my case, that was topping up my Santander account so that i could max out the balance i could earn 1.5% interest on. If you had 4,000 saving that would mean: £60 a year. On top of that you can open a regular saver account and get 5% on a monthly deposit of £250. This is another £60 a year. Total saving is then £120 a year

  • Reassess your mobile phone bill and shop around. I wiped off £20/ month off my mobile phone bill by using mobiles.co.uk instead of Carphone Warehouse! That is £240 a year saving. And I have to say, I was impressed by the service from mobiles.co.uk, I received my phone by the next working day!

  • Find out if your employer offers employee discounts. You'd be amazed with what you can save! You might think something like 1-5% isn't much, but if you're spending several hundred pounds on say a holiday then 5% can be significant!

  • Apply for a cashback credit card, again those 1-5% can add up! Be careful that some credit cards charge a monthly fee, so make sure it works out!
